In metaphysics, conceptualism is a theory that explains universality of particulars as conceptualized frameworks situated within the thinking mind. Intermediate between nominalism and realism, the conceptualist view approaches the metaphysical concept of universals from a perspective that denies their presence in particulars outside the minds perception of them. Conceptualism is anti-realist about abstract objects, just like immanent realism is.

The Archiv fur Begriffsgeschichte is an annual peer-reviewed academic journal covering studies on concepts of the history of philosophy and science. It was established in 1955 by Erich Rothacker and the current editors-in-chief are Christian Bermes, Hubertus Busche, and Michael Erler. Among the journals former editors have been Hans-Georg Gadamer, Joachim Ritter, Karlfried Grunder, Ulrich Dierse, and Gunter Scholtz. Articles are published in German, with abstracts in English.
